Healthcare organisations are increasingly reliant on medical imaging to deliver vital information in an accessible timely manner. Radiologists are stretched far beyond capacity, and data storage requirements are growing and transforming as they need to support machine learning, artificial intelligence and radiomics.

In England, the consultant radiologist workforce is 35 per cent short-staffed and needs at least another 1,613 full-time consultants to keep up with safe staffing quotas and the demand for scans.
Far from taking jobs, artificial intelligence has the scope to support the sector and deliver a more efficient and higher standard of patient care regardless of location. So what are the first steps towards leveraging Ai in medical imaging to unlock the most value? How can it be deployed safely? And how are PACS evolving to meet the needs of the market?
In our next conference, COVID as a Catalyst for Change Part 7: Ai in Medical Imaging and the Evolution of PACS, we will discuss the current priorities and challenges around leveraging Ai in medical imaging and integrating Ai applications with PACs.
